ESTABLISHMENT OVERVIEW:

Chumbi Coral park known for diving and snorkeling in Zanzibar is situated right of the coast of the main Island. It's a award winning private game reserve. It's a ongoing project aiming at zero impact to the environment offering guests a very unique Zanzibar experience. Due to its protection its one of the last pristine shallow reefs in the region and it hosts over 90% of East Africa`s hard coral species. It's been described as one of the most spectacular coral gardens to be found anywhere in the world.

Accommodation

The seven echo bungalows have been carefully designed to blend into the natural environment. If you are expecting luxury accommodation like most hotels in Zanzibar this will not be the place for you. Each bungalow comes with either double or twin beds. The large living rooms are fitted with local handmade furniture and decorated with African art , colorful fabrics and a hammock. The bungalows each have their own self-contained echo bathrooms.

Bathrooms.

Given that there are no natural underground water sources on the Island. Each echo bungalow collects and stores its own water during the rainy season. The water passes through a filtration system and then stored underground. From there water is hand pumped through a solar power heated system in to hot and cold water containers for the shower and hand basin in the bathroom.

Dinning

Dinning at Chumbe is a special experience. Chefs prepare wonderful dishes boasting the local Zanzibar flavors and a mixture of East Africa Cuisine. Chefs only prepare fish that are not threatened or caught in shallow reefs through unsustainable fishing techniques. Chumbe caters for vegetarian and non-vegetarian needs. Breakfast and lunch is served in open air terraces overlooking the Indian Ocean. Dinner is served under the stars and the lush palm trees

Activities

Guided and unguided snorkel trips are available on the Island. Guided and unguided forest walks are also very popular. Visit the light house or explore the Mosque. Chumbe offers guests a chance to reconnect and recharge.
Striving to zero impact on the environment only 14 visitors are allowed on the Island at any given time. If you want to experience unspoiled nature in a beautiful environment you will love Chumbe Coral park.
